Printing Parts Labels
Consistency in parts stocking and pricing is one trademark of a successful HVAC dealership. Customers, for
instance, are comforted by an official printed parts label listing the name and price of the part(s) that they must
purchase to restore their comfort system to working order. Quantrac 2005 satisfies this requirement, having the
capability of printing individual parts labels for each inventory item. This section describes the setup and operation of
this function.
First, you must have a printer capable of printing labels. The most convenient printer we have tried is the Costar
Label Maker. The street price is around $120.00…and it comes with Windows software, making it compatible with
Quantrac 2005. Contact your hardware source/supplier for compatible products and their installation.
In Quantrac 2005, select ‘Inventory Items’ from the toolbar to present the inventory item selection form.
Next, select the category, sub-category, and item.
Here, we have selected the Motor Start
and Run Capacitors and sub category
Motor Run Capacitors.
We have also selected item MC01, 5 uf
@ 440vac motor run capacitors.
Click the Print Labels button
This Print Labels form will appear, confirming the part number,
description, and price.
Preview the label
Print the labels.
Clicking Preview or Print will cause the Windows print dialog box will appear. Confirm that you are routing these
labels to you label printer and that you are printing them in “Landscape” (horizontal) format, and begin printing. In
this case, labels for part number MC01 will be printed, with the price of $12.50 each. Many HVAC dealerships are
printing labels from the vendor’s packing slip as the items are checked into inventory…then attaching a label to each
received part for the beginning point of a manual inventory system. (Plastic bins are used for all repair parts, on
which minimums and maximums are printed).
